Maggie Makes Four!

This journal started off documenting the adoption of our youngest daughter. It now follows the twist and turns of our lives as we raise these two amazing little creatures into the best women they can become.

Have Tickets will Travel

As of noon today, we are in posession of plane tickets, passports and visas to enter the People's Republic of China! The best part of the package aren't my tickets or Maggie's Dad's tickets, rather it is seeing Maggie's one way ticket to SFO! So good to see her little name on the ticket.

For those who are curious, the ticket is in Maggie's Chinese name. The reason is she will be traveling to the US on a Chinese Passport with a visa to immigrate. Courtesy of Bill Clinton, the minute she sets foot on US soil, she is legally an American. Unfortunately, the INS and most other government organization don't recognize the 'new' law passed in the 1990's, so she still needs to immigrate. Maggie will receive a green card and then after a whole bunch more complicated paperwork, Maggie will be a recognized US citizen with more paperwork to prove it than most US born adults. Proving her US citizenship Maggie will have a US passport, US Social Security Number, a delayed registration of birth certificate AND a certificate from the INS saying she is a citizen.

Just nice to know with the tickets in hand, we are really going to China soon.
