Poor little La Nina!
Well, there is no denying we are leaving soon. The house is trashed. My work schedule is no longer consistent. There are suitcases in the dining room and the master bedroom. Even at the tender age of 2.5 years, La Nina has figured out her sister is coming home soon and she is angst ridden over the upcoming changes. Most of her protests are in the form of two year old drama: Tantrums, whining, clinging to Mom. She is also verbalizing her concerns, just in telling me her thoughts.
Here are the highlights from our conversations today.
*On the way home from pre-school today without any prompting from me, she said, "My little sister is Maggie and she lives in China, but she is going to come home soon."
*At dinner, again without prompting, she brought up seating arrangements for Auntie and Tio. She decided Tio could use the desk chair and sit next to Auntie, because the other chair was "Daddy's".
*After dinner, while we were reading she stated, "Auntie and Tio come here and we have lots of fun."
She's got that right! On one hand, my heart goes out to her as she begins to struggle through this transition and has her hard moments. La Nina isn't known for her casual acceptance of change, so I expect the next few months to be interesting. On the other hand, we all survive the addition of siblings to our lives, so my sympathy is tempered by the reality that siblings are life and you just have to deal with it. My only hope is that in the end, she realizes she didn't just get a sister and several days of fun out of this adventure, she also ended up with a friend.
